The publication timeline does vary depending on your goals and the needs of your specific book. The Classic Path noted above, for example, generally takes 6-8 months from start to finish.
Not at all! Any Alberta CPA wanting to share their knowledge, expertise, or passion can apply for the self-publishing grant. It can be accounting or retirement-planning nonfiction, a novel, or an illustrated children’s book. The sky’s the limit!

The CPA Education Foundation and the Hesje CPA Knowledge Centre will cover up to $5,000 of your self-publishing needs. Anything over and above that amount will be the responsibility of the author to pay directly to FriesenPress.
The CPA Education Foundation and the Hesje CPA Knowledge Centre have partnered exclusively with FriesenPress to ensure that you receive professional service to produce a quality book. Grant recipients cannot exchange for the monetary value of this award.

We will be distributing two $5,000 grants per year.
Yes! You can self-publish a new title with FriesenPress, or if you are keen to re-publish your previous title you can speak with them to determine if/what would need to be done for that to be possible.
No. Whether you are just starting, in the middle, or almost finished your book, you can apply! Once you connect with FriesenPress, we’d love for you to get started within six months, but you can coordinate with your consultant if you need a bit more time.
As a self-publishing author, you maintain the ownership of your book's content.

Each path offered by FriesenPress has a different number of author copies included, so the number you receive will be dependent on the path option you choose. To see how many are included in each path option, you can visit the website here.

Additionally, authors have access to Author Direct Pricing and can order additional copies of their book at this discounted price anytime they wish to.
