Candidate statement

With 15 years of experience in public practice, I have collaborated extensively with owner-operated, locally owned companies, providing me with valuable insights into the Alberta economy. A primary objective of the CPA Alberta Board is to serve and protect the public interest, and I am confident that my professional background has equipped me to understand and further this important mandate.

In my roles as partner and principal, I participated in firm governance, taking part in strategic planning meetings and serving on various committees and work groups focused on processes and procedures. As a member of the CPA Alberta Board, I would continue these responsibilities on a broader level to help ensure all CPAs in Alberta have access to necessary tools and resources.

What do you see impacting the CPA profession, and how can CPA Alberta best respond?

The CPA profession and the businesses it serves are continually evolving in response to technological advancements and cultural shifts. CPA Alberta is well-equipped to support its members in navigating these changes and must remain agile to address both current and emerging business environments. Achieving this objective will require a diverse board with a comprehensive understanding of Alberta’s varied business landscape, both as it exists today and as it develops in the future.

How do your skills and background position you to positively contribute to the CPA Alberta Board and lead the governance of the profession?

My experience working with the midmarket sector has provided me with valuable insights into the needs of locally owned and operated businesses within our profession. This knowledge will shape our strategy and support our efforts to serve the public interest. Furthermore, I have focused on optimizing internal processes and procedures at MNP LLP and KBH to ensure we uphold quality and ethical standards efficiently, while leveraging tools that integrate new technologies. It is essential that CPA Alberta continues to offer support and resources to all members in this area.
