Desk reviews are practice reviews that are performed at CPA Alberta office locations. Desk reviews are generally performed for sole practitioner firms that typically have only tax or compilation engagements. Before the review, firms are notified of which files have been selected for review and these files must be forwarded to the CPA Alberta offices electronically.

Reviews for all registered CPA professional accounting firms or professional service providers are to be conducted no less than once every three years.

All newly registered CPA professional accounting firms will have a practice review within their first year of being registered.
