“When I received the call delivering the news that I had made honour roll, I was stunned. A wave of relief came first, then the excitement—I felt a sense of pride for all I’d achieved on my CPA path and gratitude that the long hours of studying had paid off.

This achievement is also a result of the unwavering support and encouragement from those around me. I’d especially like to thank my study group for keeping me accountable all summer, my CFE mentor for providing incredible guidance, and my fiance for encouraging and uplifting me even in moments of self-doubt. Lastly, I want to thank my parents who have supported me along my entire educational journey and shaped who I am today. I couldn’t have done it without you all.”

Ian Altwasser

"When I got the call telling me I had passed the CFE and made the Honour Roll, I couldn’t really believe it. It was a feeling of tremendous relief and excitement that completely caught me off guard, followed by a sense of accomplishment once things started to sink in.

I want to recognize my wife who supported me throughout the entirety of the CPA program as well as my family for trying to help me keep things in perspective during this time. Any success that I’ve had would not have been possible without their encouragement. Thanks also to my friends and colleagues who made the tough times much more manageable and enjoyable, you are all greatly appreciated.”

Erika Tang

“When I found out that I made the National Honour Roll, I was overwhelmed with emotion. Not only was I relieved to know that I passed the CFE, but I also felt proud of all that I accomplished. Having my hard work and dedication recognized in such a meaningful way is truly rewarding.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. Thank you to my family, who have stood by me through every high and low; their unwavering support made this achievement possible. I also want to thank my friends for always believing in me, and my mentors at PwC for their encouragement and guidance. The support from everyone means more to me than I can express.”

Congratulations from CPA Alberta

Maureen Moneta

On behalf of the CPA Alberta Board and our entire professional community, congratulations to each of you who passed the September CFE. This is a remarkable achievement—one that reflects your commitment, your discipline, and your ability to do hard things.

The CFE demands clear thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to stay steady when answers aren’t obvious. Demonstrating those strengths matters now more than ever. You’re stepping into the profession at a time of rapid disruption, polarization, and constant change—and you’ve already shown you can navigate complexity with clarity and resolve.

As you move toward earning your CPA designation, this moment marks more than a milestone. It reflects the professional you’re becoming. Someone who brings curiosity, adaptability, and integrity into their work. Someone ready to contribute in a world that needs thoughtful, principled leaders.

Whether your path leads you into public practice, corporate business, public service, social impact, entrepreneurship, or academia, you’re joining a community of over 32,000 Alberta CPAs who share a commitment to high standards and lifelong learning. And now, you add your voice—your perspective, your experience, your aspirations—to that collective strength.

My hope is that this accomplishment becomes the first chapter in the legacy you will build: leaving your mark on this world and helping shape a better future for the generations that follow.

We look forward to celebrating with you at Convocation in early 2026. Today, take a moment to truly honour what you’ve achieved. Passing the CFE is an extraordinary accomplishment, and you’ve earned every bit of the pride that comes with it.
