June 2026 – List of successful Alberta-based CFE writers

CFE National Honour Roll

The CFE National Honour Roll recognizes exceptional achievement on the CFE. Congratulations to the four Alberta-based writers who were named to the National Honour Roll in this writing.

Rashi Shani

Waste Logic Inc.

“Receiving the news that I had made the National Honour Roll was an incredibly emotional and meaningful moment for me. At first, it felt surreal, almost like a dream. I immediately started crying because it felt like the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice. This recognition represents not only a personal milestone but also the fulfillment of a long-held aspiration.

I am deeply grateful to my husband, Deepesh, for his unwavering love and motivation, and my parents for their constant encouragement and belief in me throughout this process. I sincerely thank my mentor, Sandeep, for her guidance and leadership throughout this endeavor. Most of all, I am proud to have accomplished something that brings pride to my family.

This achievement has reinforced my belief that when you are passionate about a goal, work hard, and stay committed, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.”

Mitchell Fontaine

Senior Consultant
Deloitte
Edmonton

"Finding out I made the CFE Honour Roll was a complete shock. I left the exam having absolutely no idea how I had done, so I definitely wasn’t expecting to see my name on the list!

I owe a huge thank you to my parents, Jenifer and Maurie, and my girlfriend, Katerina, for supporting me through it all. They put up with months of me disappearing to study, listening to me talk about cases they never asked about, and making sure I remained a somewhat functional human being.

I’d also like to thank Darren Liviniuk and Maureen Debaji, who have been incredible mentors. They’ve consistently believed in me, trusted me with opportunities to grow, and given me the confidence to take on greater challenges and responsibilities. I’m incredibly grateful for the impact they’ve had on my development.

I couldn’t have asked for better people in my corner."

Cameron Retzlaff

Area Finance Manager
Canadian Food Inspection Agency
Calgary

“When I learned I had not only passed the CFE but also earned a place on the Honour Roll, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief and pride. Despite all the preparation and hard work, I still believed there was a chance I had not passed, so receiving that notification was incredibly meaningful and reaffirmed all the effort I had put in was worth it. I immediately called my wife and parents to share the news. It was such a special moment that I felt compelled to share it with the people who had supported me throughout the journey.

I would like to thank my wife, Chelsea, and my family for their unwavering encouragement and belief in me. I am also incredibly grateful to my workplace management team— especially my manager, Marie-Claude—for their support, guidance, and encouragement at every stage of the program.”

Clarice Vale

Controller
Grand Touring Automobiles
Calgary

"When I was informed that I had made the National Honour Roll, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief that I had passed the CFE, and at the same time, I could hardly process what I was hearing. It was a truly remarkable moment—one that exceeded anything I had hoped for throughout the journey. The path to the CFE demands immense discipline, commitment, and resilience, and having that effort recognized is both humbling and rewarding.

This achievement was made possible by my extraordinary support system. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, especially my husband and my son, whose unwavering support and encouragement carried me through every stage of preparation. I am also grateful to friends, senior managers, and mentor for their guidance, confidence, and belief in my abilities."

This is an exceptional accomplishment. It represents countless hours of preparation, hard work and sacrifice, and likely more than a few moments when you had to dig deep and keep going. Take the time to celebrate what you have achieved and the people who helped you get here.

The CFE tests more than technical knowledge. It asks you to exercise judgment, think critically and make thoughtful decisions when the answer isn't always clear. These capabilities will serve you well throughout your career. As CPAs, we are trusted not simply because of what we know, but because of how we thinkthe judgment we exercise, the integrity we bring to our work, and the responsibility that comes with being a member of a regulated profession.

As you continue your journey toward becoming a CPA, there is much to look forward to. There is no single path a CPA career must follow, and you may find that this designation takes you places you cannot yet imagine. It can open doors, create opportunities, and give you choices about the career and life you want to build.

You are preparing to enter a profession that has been shaped by generations of CPAs before you. Over the course of your career, you too will have the opportunity to shape it؅bringing your experiences and perspectives, contributing to the organizations and communities you serve, and helping steward our profession for those who will follow.

We are incredibly proud of what you have accomplished. Passing the CFE is a significant milestone on your journey, and we look forward to celebrating with you at Convocation in early 2027.
