CPA Alberta is fortunate to retain the best faculty to facilitate our Executive Programs. All of our faculty members are experienced educators with years of practical experience in business, management, and leadership.

 

John Hetherington

John Hetherington is committed to helping companies and individuals grow in our world of fast-paced technology change. Business leaders look to John when they see opportunities to leverage technology but struggle with delivery or are frustrated with technology initiatives not living up to promises. His clients value the way he creates pragmatic strategies that achieve results and his ability to simplify complexity into clear actions that drive meaningful outcomes.

 

John has led technology projects for over 20 years and is an expert in digital change management. He has 10 years of strategy consulting experience from Deloitte and Ernst & Young and has worked in the technology industry both in the UK and North America for over 25 years. He brings expertise in delivering large scale, strategic change with the nimbleness and speed of an independent specialist.

 

John has worked with companies including Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Bank of Scotland, Royal and Sun Alliance (RSA), Suncor Energy, Cenovus Energy, Talisman Energy, INLIV Health, and Enbridge Pipelines.

 

He lives in Calgary and enjoys the Rocky Mountains for mountain biking and hiking with his wife Rebecca and Kodi, the black German shepherd.

Doug Junor

Doug has been working in the Telecom, IT, IoT, and Mobile Application Development sectors for over 30 years and has held a number of roles in the Management Consulting, Technical Support, Channel Development, and Sales & Marketing areas. Doug has worked with clients across North America, the Caribbean, and the UK.

Doug helps executives and organizations through the often-scary world of Digital Transformation by helping them re-invent their organizations from the inside out.

Linda Lucas

Linda Lucas CPA, CMA is the Chief Executive Officer at Roper Greyell LLP, Employment + Labour Lawyers. Linda has 20 years of experience in all aspects of finance and operations, and has worked in many different industries across Canada, United Kingdom, Cayman Islands, and the Bahamas.

Linda’s has worked with organizations experiencing significant growth and organizations that have multiple locations and services, as well as diverse client bases. Her strategic focus and leadership skills will continue to enhance Roper Greyell’s ability to lead and develop and one of Canada’s top boutique labour and employment firms.

Mia Maki

Mia Maki BA, MBA, FCPA, FCMA is a Principal of a consulting firm and a Professor with the University of Victoria Gustavson School of Business. Mia has over 20 years of teaching experience.

Since 1986, she has worked in finance and accounting and has experience in a wide variety of industries including audio technology, airlines and aviation, not-for-profit, public accounting, marine transportation, fisheries monitoring, gaming and other technology arenas. Mia has worked for both private and public companies, has participated in raising over $50 milllion in funds, and has experience in international initiatives.

Lesley-Ann Marriott

Lesley-Ann Marriott PCC, CEC holds the advanced credential of Professional Executive Coach. As a former executive, Lesley-Ann developed her skills in the competitive world of the big box retail business at the senior leadership table. Lesley-Ann has invested thousands of hours coaching senior leaders and teams—many of whom are professional accountants. Described as edgy and fun, her sessions are highly interactive and entertaining.

Lesley-Ann is Principal at Marriott Management Group, Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University – Executive Coaching Program, Faculty for CPA’s Executive Leadership Program, and Senior Associate of Personal Strengths Canada – Core Strengths.

Jim Murray

Dr. Jim Murray is CEO of Optimal Solutions International, a firm dedicated to helping people and organizations reach their full potential. Described by his clients as "a rare breed" and "an organizational therapist," and "a man of brilliance" by his students, Dr. Murray has been in the leadership development business over the course of five decades. He has led enterprises in both the public and private sectors and provided his strategic counsel to over 600 organizations. Dr. Murray has designed and taught courses for accounting professionals since 1982 and is the architect of several residential executive learning experiences that are offered by CPA jurisdictions across Canada. Thousands of attendee testimonials confirm his ability to connect with the thinking style and professional development needs of accountants. Jeffrey D Sherman

Jeffrey D. Sherman MBA, CIM, FCPA, FCA is the Chief Executive Officer of Terragram Investments Ltd. Jeffrey has over 25 years of experience as a corporate director and executive in real estate, high tech, biotechnology/medical, financial services, and business services. Prior to his role with Terragram, he was the CFO of Atrium Mortgage Investment Corporation (TSX: AI) where he helped take the company public and grow its assets from $180 million to over $600 million.

Jeffery is a popular presenter as well as a frequent course director and course author for many organizations including provincial associations of Chartered Professional Accountants across Canada. He has also written numerous magazine articles and over 20 books including Canadian Cash and Treasury Management, Financial Instruments: A Guide for Financial Managers, Finance and Accounting PolicyPro, and Strategy and Planning Toolkit for Small and Medium Businesses.

Chris Sorensen

Chris Sorensen CPA, CGA is the founder and President of Iteration Insights, a Calgary based analytics firm. For his entire career he has straddled the line between the Business and Technology. Chris has a strong background in cost accounting and budgeting/forecasting which has led to his obsession with data and analytics at the individual and enterprise levels. He is most passionate about coaching, building analytic teams, and delivering analytic based solutions for their many clients.

Tammy Towill

Tammy Towill MBA, FCPA, FCMA is a partner in the Cordura Group and faculty with Capilano University. Tammy provides business advisory services and related education and training programs to organizations and communities seeking growth or change.

For over 25 years, Tammy has worked with private and public sector companies throughout North America and Europe. She has provided education, training, and facilitating in the areas of leadership, strategy, business planning, and curriculum development and implementation. Tammy has served on and worked with several boards in Canada and the United States.
