Some say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we couldn't agree more. Come enjoy a delicious breakfast while hearing from Francis Fong, Chief Economist at CPA Canada.
Francis will deliver an engaging presentation on the major trends impacting global, US, and Canadian economies, including geopolitical risks and potential trade disruptions—and what these trends will mean for Canada. He will also cover domestic issues, including the impact of low oil prices on resource-oriented provinces and the outlook for interest rates, housing, and household debt. Francis will also touch on the disruptive nature of technological change and how it’s impacting the labour market, including the rise of the gig economy, precarious work, and income volatility—these phenomena present serious challenges to Canadian families across the country.
Francis Fong joined CPA Canada as Chief Economist in February 2017. Francis was previously director of economic risk and senior economist at TD Economics, where he oversaw risk activities including internal and regulatory stress testing. He has also conducted numerous reports on a variety of social and economic issues, including immigration, youth unemployment, income inequality, financial markets, and labour market issues. Francis holds a master's degree in economics from Queen's University and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario.
