Message from the Chair
As a longtime member of the accounting profession, I have had many opportunities to observe the positive impacts that the CPA Education Foundation has on students, on accounting and business education, and on the profession itself.
The importance of the Foundation’s work and its contributions to the growth of our profession led me to join the Foundation Board three years ago. Now, I have the great honour of serving as Chair of the Foundation, and working with a Board made up of dedicated, talented and innovative CPAs.
I want to thank my predecessor, Joanne Belliveau CPA, CA, CGA for her substantial contributions to the Foundation during her term as Chair and, in fact, during her eight years of service on the Board. Joanne set the bar high, and she leaves a legacy of historic growth for the Foundation. I also want to thank my fellow Board members, and the many other CPAs who contribute to the Foundation’s activities. I am excited about working with this team to continue the important mission of the Foundation.
The Foundation has an ambitious agenda for the next two years. We will be working to complete our No Limits initiative to encourage and support Indigenous Albertans seeking careers in business and accounting. We will be expanding the number and scope of awards for deserving Alberta students and consider new innovative ways to support research that advances our goals. We will strengthen the profession’s partnerships with post-secondary business faculties throughout the province. And, we will represent the very best of what the CPA profession stands for – integrity, high standards, and commitment to the community.
In all of the Foundation’s activities, my fellow Board members and I are committed to keeping the Foundation’s work relevant and to ensure accountability for how we use the resources that Alberta CPAs have entrusted to us.
In the coming years, I very much look forward to working with the Foundation team, the Foundation’s many partners, and all Alberta CPAs in advancing the goals of the Foundation in strengthening the quality of, and access to, accounting education in Alberta.
