Capitalize Campus Stars Class of 2024

What is a Capitalize Campus Star?
The Capitalize Campus Stars program recognizes up to 10 amazing Alberta post-secondary students who are dreaming of one day becoming CPAs. Check out the last class of Campus Stars!
Eligibility
Ok, here are the very few requirements for a Capitalize Campus Star. Nominees must:
- Be a post-secondary student in one of the programs in the CPA Alberta Transfer Credit Guide as of the beginning of the fall term in the nominating year (i.e., to be a 2024 Capitalize Campus Star, a student must be attending a post-secondary institution as of the 2023 fall term)
- Live in Alberta
- Dream of one day becoming an Alberta CPA
- Demonstrate excellence in leadership, innovation, volunteerism in their community, and/or professional achievements
Students may be nominated by anyone—a peer, a mentor, a teacher or professor, a colleague. CPA Alberta will not notify nominees they have been nominated, and it is up to the discretion of the nominator if they would like to inform them before the Capitalize Campus Stars Class of 2024 has been notified.
Commitment to equity
Capitalize Campus Stars is intended to reflect the diversity of Alberta’s post-secondary campuses. Nominations are welcome and encouraged for nominees representing all communities in Alberta, especially those most marginalized, such as Black, Indigenous, and Students of Colour; students who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+; and students with disabilities.
The selection committee will also strive to select Capitalize Campus Stars from various post-secondary institutions across Alberta.
Recognition
Capitalize Campus Stars will be recognized with a feature in the Winter 2024 print issue of Capitalize with a full-page dedicated just to them. This will be followed by an expanded profile on capitalize.cpaalberta.ca, which is a great way to share with family and friends!
In addition to the recognition, Capitalize Campus Stars will receive a customized celebration box! The exact details of 2024’s box are top secret, but last year’s Capitalize Campus Stars received a few yummy treats, branded items they can use in their school or professional lives to show off their new status as a Capitalize Campus Star, and some items purely for fun and celebration!
Key dates
If you plan to nominate an outstanding Alberta post-secondary student to be a Capitalize Campus Star, keep these dates in mind:
- August 3: Nominations open at 10am MST
- September 4: Nominations close at 11:59pm MST
- September 11: Capitalize Campus Stars Class of 2024 is notified
- Early January 2024: Capitalize Campus Stars Class of 2024 is announced
Nomination process
